At Fly Day 2013, this year to be held on September 28th, people from the Ottawa community can take 20-minute sightseeing flights over the city. The cost is $40 per person, and the flights are provided by Ottawa Flying Club pilots. Fly Day raises funds for the Ottawa Rotary Home, which provides respite care to families of children with physical disabilities.

Fly Day is a wonderful opportunity to see the nation’s capital from the air and is a popular event for families. Check back for more details and features as the site develops.

Fly Day 2012 A Great Success!

After the fog lifted the skies over Ottawa were sunny and clear and it was a beautiful day to go flying. In all, 250 people took rides in aircraft from the Ottawa and Rockcliffe Flying Clubs as well other regional airports. Many thanks to all those who took rides and supported the Ottawa Rotary Home. We hope to see you at Fly Day 2013.

Only three more days until Fly Day 2012 – this Saturday at the Ottawa Flying Club. Though Fly Day is a weather-dependent event, there is no reason to believe at this point that it won’t go ahead.

Ten Days to Fly Day 2012!

The 54th Annual Fly Day is just over a week away. Next Saturday, September 29th, the Ottawa Flying Club and the Ottawa Rotary Club are hosting the annual Fly Day charity event. At Fly Day, people from the Ottawa area can take 20-minute sightseeing flights over the city. The cost is $35 per person, and the flights are provided by Ottawa Flying Club, Rockcliffe Flying Club and other local pilots. Fly Day is a wonderful opportunity to see the nation’s capital from the air and is a popular event for families, with proceeds benefiting the Ottawa Rotary Home, long known for offering short-term respite care to families who have children with disabilities.

Wings Over Gatineau Airshow Returns Next Weekend!

While planning continues for this year’s Fly Day at the Ottawa Flying Club on Saturday, September 29^th, Vintage Wings of Canada is once again holding the Wings Over Gatineau Airshow next weekend. With its increasing popularity among aviation enthusiasts of all ages in the national capital region, this year’s show is being held on both Saturday and Sunday.

The 2012 edition features breathtaking aerial demonstrations by the famed Canadian Forces Snowbirds, the CF-18 Demo Team, the F-86 Golden Hawk Sabre, and wing-walking phenom Carol Pilon. There will be legendary Second World War aircraft such as the Spitfire, the FG-1D Corsair, the Avro Lancaster bomber, and more than 100, beautifully-restored, vintage aircraft from Canada and the United States.

There’s also a special focus on Warbirds of the Med, marking the 70th anniversary of many of the major air and land battles in and around the Mediterranean Sea during the Second World War.

· September 15-16, from 10 am to 4 pm

· Gatineau Airport, Highway 50 – 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa

· Tickets are $20 (free for children 12 and under) at the gate or in advance online

· A free “Park and Ride” lot will be available on-site with a shuttle service provided

The Ottawa Flying Club would like to invite you to an “Open House” on Saturday April 28^th from 9:00 until 2:00 pm.
